You simply never know what’s going to come out of the shop of Gary Reeder Custom Guns. From the biggest bores in rifles to the biggest bores in handguns and just about everything in-between, Gary delivers eye-catching, innovative designs and styles in enough variety to please anyone. Gary’s a hard-core handgun hunter too, so his field-grade guns always perform as expected since he’s used them all over the world on the biggest game.

If you happen to have an old model 3-screw Ruger Blackhawk, a new model Blackhawk, Superblackhawk or Bisley and have wondered what you could do with it, Gary has come up with the EL DIABLO. Our custom give-away gun this month is one built by Gary and could be yours! The Reeder shop builds an entirely new cylinder in .44 special, then builds a special 3.5" .44 barrel to match. Adding a touch of gold and engraving to accent the Black Chromex finish, the package is rounded-out with the installation of a set of “ivory” Corian grips on a Reeder all-steel gripframe in the “Gunfighter Grip” style. And note the “American Handgunner” name on the barrel!

A gold bead front sight with the “V”-rear is standard. Or, if you’re unlucky and don’t win this one and are supplying your own gun to Gary’s shop to get one, you can have the standard blade front and white outline rear. Reeder’s interchangeable blade front sight system allows you to change your front sight as often as you like. For close shots (a charging squirrel in your back yard?) the blade sight will do fine. For the long shots, like when you miss that squirrel and he makes a run for it and pauses to gloat and sneer at you — then the gold bead works fine for a more precise shot. Gotcha’.

Gary does a super slick action job that makes the big gun run buttery smooth. If you’re sending your own gun, they can do a small amount of traditional engraving on it and engrave your name on it too, at no extra charge. Whether you carry this slick gun for self defense, play cowboys and Indians with it, or just have it around for a fun gun, you’ll be proud to own the EL DIABLO.
