The Conquistador
Haslinger Custom Knives

Editor Roy Huntington and I met Thomas Haslinger at a Las Vegas Knife show several years ago and have marveled at his work ever since. His latest is the Conquistador a large bowie style that is truly unique in its construction. Thomas forged the blade from a 300 layer mix of 1084 and 15N20, and for the guard, took a solid piece of bronze and carved and textured it to add another whole dimension to the knife. The handle is created from mammoth ivory to resemble a whiskey barrel and bound with gold wire. The pommel is in the shape of a cowboy spur with a rattlesnake skin overlaid cowhide sheath to complete the package.
