    Reloading Revelations

What's New And What's Still Cool

  Dillon 1050/Red Nine

While the 550 is a progressive reloader, the 1050 is virtually an ammo factory.
Looking back now I realize I never knew true happiness until I bought the 1050.
Finally, I could load ammunition faster than I could shoot it.

The pistol in the second photo is a “Broomhandle” Mauser with matching stock/holster. This variation,
the “Red 9” was made in 9mm and had the number 9 carved in the stocks and painted red, to avoid
confusion with those chambered in 7.63 cal.

  Hodgdon Titegroup

Introducing a new powder takes time and patience. Titegroup has been available for a while now but plenty of reloaders are still working their way through kegs of powders already on hand. Nothing wrong with sticking to what is known and proven but don’t pass up good new products.

  Lee Reloader

Even if you have a progressive reloading tool, a single-stage press is handy for a multitude of jobs, from knocking out spent primers prior to tumbling cases, to running off small batches of test loads.
The basic Lee press is simple, inexpensive and reliable.

  Lee Hand Press

If space and weight are at a premium, either in a backpack of an apartment, the Lee
hand press may be the answer. Not exactly as speedy as a progressive, but at a campsite
or cabin, better than a progressive left back home.

  Primer Assortment

We keep the most-used primers handy while bulk supplies are stored elsewhere. Basic rules of
primer safety: always keep them stored in their original packaging until they are needed for immediate use.

  RCBS Bullet Feeder

The new bullet feeder from RCBS for their excellent line of progressive loading tools makes the
process even faster and more convenient.

  RCBS Case Trimmer

I must admit, I hardly ever trim handgun cases. Since many handgunners also own rifles I’m
including a photo of this fine RCBS case trimmer. Rifle cases do need trimming at regular intervals
and this miniature-lathe type tool does the job well.

  RCBS Check Weights

Every reloading bench absolutely needs a powder scale. I still have a couple balance-beam scales
though the electronic ones are far more convenient. Whichever you have, how do you know it’s accurate?
With this set of RCBS check weights you’ll know.
