This Cyclops Revo 1100 handheld spotlight has enjoyed a coveted position in my home on nightstand duty. Along with other related gear, the Revo is the go-to light when I want to instantly light up the second level of the house — thereby shining all the neighbors’ houses as well. What’s amazing is while I use the Revo from time to time, it’s still running off its very first charge. Yes, I’m supposed to get about 69 minutes’ worth of burn time with a full charge, but most other rechargeable battery flashlights have nowhere near the gumption to hang on for so long, almost a year now in my case.

Moreover the Revo has a battery-strength indicator. Activate the Revo by squeezing the trigger and, if the battery is still strong, you get a green light on the top of the unit. Yellow means power is getting low. Red and it’s time get back on the charger. Like, right now. Charging, by the way, occurs via a dedicated cord and plug powered by a standard wall outlet or a 12V outlet in your car or truck. But when it’s charged, two Hi-Power Luxeon LEDs do the work of instantly pouring out 1,100 lumens of awesomely bright light.

Activated by the press of the Revo’s trigger, you can click a secondary button to lock the trigger back, thus keeping the light on. And if you do keep it on or use it a lot in one setting, the light of course creates heat. Thankfully the Revo’s high-strength plastic housing includes vents to help dissipate the heat. Add the rubberized grip and lens housing, and you’ve got a bright, durable, lighting solution suitable for the truck, boat, house — and especially the nightstand. It really is unbelievable just how bright it is. $139.99.
