It’s not often I field strip a Glock at the range and give it a quick lube, but when I do, I run a bit of Shooter’s Choice FP-10 through it with a Swab-It. Technically, FP-10 is step three in a 4-step cleaning process, but I find it does a good job for a middle-of-the-shooting-day lube when I’m running a few hundred rounds through my gun at a dusty range. I’ve never had a mid-session stoppage or other problem with the Glock, but then again, maybe it’s because I’ve usually conducted these kinds of quick cleaning sessions. Hmm.

Shooter’s Choice FP-10 has an operating range from -49 degrees F to 500+ degrees F. That covers all four seasons here in Michigan and probably your area, too. Here’s what you do to clean, lube and protect: With an unloaded gun — double check, please — run FP-10 multiple times through the bore on a bronze brush for a thorough scouring, then apply it to the moving parts and wear surfaces. Cycle the action to work it in then rub down the entire gun with a rag moistened with it. That’ll do the protecting part. Do those steps with your gun and you’ll be removing carbon, lead, and powder fouling, reducing friction, and protecting against rust and corrosion.

The 4-oz. container of Shooter’s Choice FP-10 retails for $9.89 and is an easy addition to your range bag for those quick, mid-session lubes. When it’s time for a more thorough cleaning, check out Shooter’s Choice Universal Cleaning Kit — MC7 Firearms Bore Cleaner, FP-10 Lubricant Elite and Rust Preventative/Lubricant. And if you’ve got a lot of polymer firearms, check out their Polymer Safe Quick Scrub. For more info: www.shooters-choice.com, (440) 834-8888.
