Nagant M1895 Revolver
Worst Gun I've Ever Owned
Every collection has that gun — the one you love to hate. For me, it’s the Nagant M1895 revolver.
Its claim to fame? A truly unusual gas-seal system. As the trigger is pulled, the cylinder actually moves forward and covers the barrel cylinder gap. It’s supposed to enhance accuracy and velocity.
On the range, the experience is exactly what you’d expect — quirky. The trigger pull is long and heavy, the mechanics feel unusual, and the overall shooting experience is, well, memorable. Whether that’s a compliment depends on your perspective.
Still, there’s no denying the Nagant’s place in firearms history. It’s a design that tried to solve a real problem in a completely different way — and actually succeeded, at least mechanically.
Is it the best revolver ever made? Not even close.
Is it one of the most interesting? Absolutely.
