Magnum Research’s Baby Eagle III

Most famous for the large Desert Eagle and BFR revolvers, Magnum Research also has “normal” sized guns in its arsenal. This year marks the 30th anniversary of Magnum Research, so it was the perfect time to introduce the stylishly improved Baby Eagle III. The sleeker and upgraded design are sure to be a hit whether it be for concealed carry, home defense or plain old shooting/plinking fun.

For conventional carry, the streamlined Baby Eagle III, is a more refined version of previous models. Available in full- and compact-frame sizes in either all steel or polymer frames and in three different calibers, the Baby Eagle III surely has something to offer your carry needs.

Baby Eagle III

The Baby Eagle series is known as being one of the most reliable pistols in the industry. Based on the CZ 75 design and having the general appearance of a mini Desert Eagle profile-wise, the Baby Eagle III is a stoutly built and accurate pistol. The recoil-absorbing, full-size steel-framed 9mm version weighs 38 oz., and has a 4.43" barrel, while the polymer-frame version weighs a mere 28.6 oz.

The steel-framed compact has a 3.85" barrel and weighs in at 35 oz., while its polymer-framed brother weighs 26.3 oz. Guns are available in 9mm, .40 S&W and .45 ACP.

All pistols have the identifiable Desert Eagle side-cut slide profile with manual thumb-cock safety/decocker. Trigger pull is listed as 12 lbs. in double action and 4 lbs. in single action. Full-length rails are featured on all guns along with locking lugs on top of barrel and integral accessory underrails for mounting lights and lasers. Steel combat three-dot sights are provided for quick sight acquisition, along with two steel magazines.

Full-size Baby Eagle III pistols have 4.43″ match-grade barrels and measure 8″ long, 1.3″ wide and 5.375″ tall. The steel frame and slide are manufactured from quality carbon steel with a durable and attractive matte-black oxide finish. Polymer-framed guns have finger-groove grips while their steel-framed companions have flat fronts with serrations. Magazines from the Baby Eagle II are compatible with the new Baby Eagle III.

The Baby Eagle III is manufactured in Israel by BUL Transmark and imported by Magnum Research. MSP is $646–691, depending on model.
