Night Fision’s
Precision Optic Plates

The RMR plate, the installation tool and the backup sights.

There is a perception that factory optic mounting plates leave things to be desired; they could be better.

Night Fision heard these concerns and developed products to answer them. And the company is equipped to do just that: Everyone I know at Night Fision is a shooter — a student of the gun.

This July, they began releasing their solutions to those concerns — mounting plates and backup iron sights. Both are intended to replace the factory versions you found in the pistol case.

Night Fision provided the plate, the screws, the tool, and
the installation video. You jaust supply the pistol and optic.

Which Pistols?

The company started with options for GLOCK’s MOS line. Over the next several months, you will see products for optic-ready pistols from CZ, SIG and S&W. Stay tuned as the line grows.

Night Fision’s precision optic plate is mounted to the slide, and
Aimpoint’s Acro P-2 is mounted to that plate. Ready to reassemble
and head to the range.

A Quick Guided Tour

The plates themselves are machined from aviation-grade 17-4 premium steel to the tightest tolerances possible to get a precise fit with the pistol manufacturer’s slide cuts. To survive the events the plates will be exposed to, Night Fision finished them in black nitride. Recoil bosses to prevent shearing are machined into each plate.

Along with the plate, Night Fision has included a variety of mounting screws. What is nice is they aren’t going to make you guess about what screw is for what optic. One bag contains the screws for mounting the plate to the slide. The other bags are for mounting a Trijicon RMR, the SRO or a Holosun 507C/508T. You won’t need those other screws if you are mounting an Aimpoint Acro. Each bag is clearly labeled with the intended optics for these screws. Even I could figure out which screws I needed.

I appreciate the effort Night Fision put into making sure the end user — you — got the screws you needed to mount your optic. Those screws come pre-treated with a semi-permanent (blue) thread locker.

Night Fision’s plate fit precisely onto the slide right out of the box. Installing the backup sights is the next step.

Installation And Tools

Additionally, the company includes a neon green mounting tool. It has a flat tip screwdriver on one end and a T-10 Torx bit on the other. That color makes it hard to lose!

Installation is made easy thanks to the videos the Night Fision folks have already posted on YouTube. Each package includes a QR code that takes you to the appropriate installation video. They are well done and easy to follow.

Note the set screw for securing the rear backup sight. Well done!

Retail

For the retail side, Night Fision helped you as well. The packaging will be color-coded for each of the specific brands. For example, black for GLOCK and gold for CZ.

The plates with screws and the tool have an MSRP of $60. The black backup sights are listed at $99. If you want a tritium insert with a yellow ring around the vial, you are looking at an MSRP of $144.43.

Warranty?
