EOTECH EFLX CE Red Dot Pistol Optic
What I Look For In A Red Dot
With so many pistol red dots on the market today, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. My advice is to ignore the marketing hype and focus on the features that really matter.
First, make sure the optic actually fits your handgun. You’d be surprised how many people buy a red dot only to discover it won’t mount to their pistol without the proper footprint or adapter plate.
Next, decide whether you want an open or enclosed emitter. Open emitters are typically lighter and sometimes less expensive, while enclosed emitters offer better protection from rain, dirt and debris. If you’re carrying a defensive handgun, durability should always take priority over a long list of flashy features.
I also look for long battery life, a convenient side-loading battery compartment and a dot size in the 3 MOA range for precise shooting. Avoid buying solely on price. A bargain optic might be fine on a plinking rifle, but I wouldn’t trust a $50 red dot on a handgun I might depend on to protect my life.
One optic that checks all the right boxes is the EOTECH EFLX CE. It features an enclosed emitter, multiple reticle options, Shake Awake technology, a side-loading battery, integrated backup iron sights, night-vision compatibility, and multiple mounting options. More importantly, it’s built to withstand real-world use.
Yes, you’ll spend more on a quality optic — but there’s a reason for that. A dependable red dot is an investment in confidence and reliability every time you draw your handgun.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: buy once, cry once.
