Lasermax Centerfire Laser

I think most people can see a value in having a laser on a handgun as at least a back-up sighting system. I’ve also found them to be great tools to teach trigger control (that dancing dot doesn’t lie!), and frankly, right or wrong, if someone doesn’t train, a good laser sight is arguably a must-have accessory on a home-defense gun. There are many laser sight makers in the market today, but LaserMax is among the two or three at the very top in quality, innovation and design.

With millions of S&W J-Frames in the hands of shooters, LaserMax has answered the wishes of many of those owners by introducing their latest in their line of CenterFire laser sights. Easily user-installed on a S&W J-Frame, the sight rides under the barrel’s axis, and is controlled by a “tap-on/tap-off” activation button. It’s available in red or green with the ability to switch between a pulsing or solid beam.

At only a half-ounce in weight it doesn’t affect the gun’s handling, and the laser runtime is about one hour. It’s factory-aligned for 10 yards, but is also user-adjustable for windage and elevation if you want to change things out. It comes with a 5-year warranty, and costs about $149 for the red and $199 for the green. You will likely find it won’t fit your regular holster although some soft pocket holsters may still work. The CenterFire laser system is available for a cross-section of handguns, so check out LaserMax’s website for a list of fits.
