In the world of holster making, few companies and people stand out as extraordinary. Mitch Rosen is one of them. In fact, Mitch Rosen’s tagline, Extraordinary Gunleather, truly lives up to its name. How do I say such things? Because right now I’m carrying a Sig Sauer P239 in a Mitch Rosen holster and belt. The holster: the new Ultimatum IWB with loop (retail $125). The belt: a black 42″ x 11/2″ (retail $70). I’m a size 34 waist but belt sizing, especially to accommodate an IWB holster, requires a few more inches. Both holster and belt feel absolutely top notch and in fact are crafted with the finest cowhide available. And the Ultimatum holster is hand fitted for the P239. We’re talking serious craftsmanship and style and functionality here. What’s interesting is the Sig is not a lightweight gun. Loaded, it registers just over two pounds on my digital scale. But in the Mitch Rosen rig it’s downright comfortable and easily concealable.

The exterior of the holster — a smooth finish — contributes significantly to the comfort. The loop fits the belt perfectly and offers a slight forward cant. Like you, I’ve worn a few guns and holsters. And we know — for lack of a better description — there’s a harmony or synergy between gun, holster and belt when it’s right. Or, at least, there ought to be! Some gun/holster/belt combinations get it right. Others, not so much. The Sig Sauer P239 in the Mitch Rosen Ultimatum on the Mitch Rosen belt gets this harmony pitch perfect.

This is not about look — although, if visible, they look stunning. This is about function taken to a comfortable extreme. The Ultimatum conceals the P239 very well while carrying it low, balancing the weight on hip and belt, but presenting it naturally when going for a draw. It’s the kind of rig making you opt for a larger, heavier gun — because you can — and now it’s even more comfortable to do so. Simply extraordinary.
