Model No. 3 Schofield

The Schofield is a classic, and this reproduction is chambered in .44-40. It’s a single-action, six-shot revolver with a seven-inch barrel and beautiful bluing. The coolest thing about the Schofield is that it’s a break-top revolver.
There’s no reason to truly test the Schofield. The build quality from Cimarron Firearms is excellent and the Model No. 3 is more than proven. We did do some accuracy shooting, including a shot on steel from 100 yards. Dumping the cylinder and shooting one-handed were among the day’s shenanigans, as well.
I was fortunate enough to know a guy named Roy Huntington. This fine gentleman sent over the impossible-to-find .44-40 ammunition for the review.
If you have any experience with the .44-40 (.44 WCF), you know two things; it’s a big bullet, and it drops quickly. Ringing steel with my cameraman and father-in-law was too much fun.
When all is said and done, the Cimarron Firearms Model No. 3 Schofield will run you $1,300. I wish I could hold on to this review copy for a little longer. Perhaps the rest of my life.
